Secure Parking
As added reassurance with respect to security, many of our parking facilities hold the ACPO Gold Secure Award. The Secured Car Park award, initiated by the Association of Chief Police Officers and launched in September 1992 was part of the "Secured by Design" initiative to encourage those responsible for car parks to improve security standards as a means of reducing criminal activity. The scheme is supported by the Home Office and the British Parking Association and is administered by the Automobile Association. To be awarded Secured status, owners and operators must meet a stringent set of standards including good design and management. Once awarded, car park standards must be maintained and continuing improvement and maintenance of those standards are judged during an annual re-inspection process.
